Is the World Meet still going to happen?
Yes!! We are still planning on having the Meet. The Gilmore Car Museum was open in 2020 for car shows and we anticipate that this policy will continue. It is an outside event, masks, social distancing and a temperature check at the gate may be required, but we fully expect the show to go on.
What is the date for the Micro/Mini Car World Meet 2021?
The Meet itself will be held on Saturday June 19, 2021. We are planning a “Preview “event in Downtown Kalamazoo on Friday evening, June 18th.
Where is the location for the Micro/Mini Car World Meet?
The Meet is going to be held at the Gilmore Car Museum, Hickory Corners, Michigan which is located about halfway between Chicago and Detroit. The actual event will be held around the track located on the western part of the Museum’s grounds.
What is the address of The Gilmore Car Museum for my GPS?
Their address is 6825 Hickory Road, Hickory Corners, MI 49060. Their phone number is 269-671-5089.
What are the Meet Hours?
The show hours will be from 9:00am to 4:00pm Eastern time. Exhibitors can enter the Museum grounds starting at 7:30am.
What is the cost for the event?
The cost to Pre-Register your car is $35.00 for your first car. If you want to bring more than one car, the cost is $10.00/additional car. If you do not Pre-Register, the cost is $40.00 for the first car and $10.00 for each additional car. The registration fee includes admission to the Gilmore Car Museum, which would normally cost $16.00/person.
How do I register for the Meet?
You can go to the Registration section of the website and fill out the Registration form. After you fill it out, you can send it electronically to us with a PayPal payment for the registration fee and any T-shirts and banquet tickets you may wish to purchase. We have also provided the Registration form in a pdf format that you can print out and manually complete and mail it to us. If you mail us the Registration Form you can enclose a check for the Registration fee, T-shirts and banquet tickets if you want to order them.
Do I have to mail in my registration form?
You can either fill out the Registration Form on-line or print it out and mail it to the address on the form. We also need you to mail your payment for the Meet, any T-shirts and the banquet tickets.
Will you refund my money if I decide not to come?
There are no refunds of the show fee if you simply decide not to come. The registration fee will be refunded only if the show is not allowed to take place due to government restrictions.
Do I have to pre-order my T-shirts?
Yes, T-shirts will only be available on a Pre-Order basis only. The price is $15.00/shirt. They come is sizes Small-3XL. They will be available for pickup at the registration desk on the day of the show.
What does the T-shirt look like?
It will be a Gilden Ultra Cotton T-shirt in Sport Gray color with the circular Meet logo on the front of the shirt. We are offering only adult sizes from small to 3XL. They are all priced the same. We may have a few extras at the show in case you order the wrong size, but no promises any will be available at the show.
What happens if I order a T-shirt but can’t come to the Meet to pick it up?
Since you will have pre-ordered it, we will mail it to you but there will be a $7.25 charge for Priority Mail shipping.
Do I have to pre-order Banquet tickets?
Yes, you can understand we need a head count for the caterers so tickets must be pre-ordered. Due to the size of the tent, we can only accommodate 300 people. So tickets will be sold on a first come-first serve basis. There will be no refunds if you decide not to attend the banquet.
Where is the banquet going to be held?
The tent for the banquet will be set up on the grounds of the Gilmore adjacent to the show field. You will drive right by it after you check into the grounds and on your way to the show field.
After the Meet will I have time to load up my car before the banquet?
Yes, the show will be over at 4:00. The banquet will start at 6:00. In fact, we need to get the cars off of the show area because there is another event taking place after the Meet. Details on the event are still in the planning stages so stay tuned for additional information.
What time does the banquet start?
The banquet is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm and will probably last a couple of hours. Just the awarding of a few trophies, no long speeches, just time for you to talk with your friends and fellow car enthusiasts. It stays light until about 10:00 in Western Michigan, so you will still be able to drive back to your hotel in daylight.
What are the lodging and camping accommodation?
There is a separate page on the website that lists the recommended hotels and camping site locations. Please mention that you are reserving a room at the hotels in order to qualify for the special rate we have secured.
What are the cancellation policies at the recommended hotels?
Each hotel has its own cancellation policies. The hotels we have listed on the Hotel Information Page where we have a block of rooms reserved have a special cancellation policy that allows you to cancel up to 48 hours before the day of check-in with no penalty.
How far is it from the host hotels to the Gilmore Car Museum?
It is about 13 miles on two lane road. I should take you 25-30 minutes to get from the hotels to the museum.
I am coming Thursday or Friday night can I park my trailer at the Gilmore?
If you want to drop your trailer and/or car and trailer at the Gilmore Thursday or Friday night, you can park it in the Gilmore Parking lot. There is no security on the grounds at night, but there might be campers with cars in the area to deter anyone from the outside. This will be totally at your own risk.
What do I do when I get to the Gilmore?
There will be people directing you to the parking lots. They are grass fields. You can unload your car, and proceed to the exhibitor’s gate. There, your name will be checked off the list. You will then drive along “Dealer’s Row” until you see the signs for the Meet. Simply follow the signs to the Meet. There will be a “Registration” tent at the beginning of the track. Please stop there for your registration packet and directions to the suggested parking area for your make of car. Then simply and safely drive to the parking area and park your car.
Can I bring chairs and a cooler?
Yes, of course you can, Please realize we are expecting around 300 cars so leave room for other cars to park. No alcoholic beverages are permitted to be brought into the Gilmore.
Can I park next to my friends?
We are going to try and group cars by Make as much as possible. But if you are bringing two cars and want to park them next to each other, by all means do. Want to park next to your friends that is okay. We don’t want to set up too many rules so let’s just have fun and enjoy each other’s company and our cars.
Will there be signs for me to put in my car window?
Yes, we are going to provide a window sign for you to put on your front window. It will have your car number on it so people can use it to vote for their favorite car. We encourage you to have additional information about your car displayed so people can learn more about you and your car.
Can I bring things to sell or trade?
Yes, we hope you do. There will not be separate area for a swap meet, but if you want to lay out a tarp by your car and offer up things to sell that would be awesome, especially if they are Micro/Mini Car related items.
Buy, Sell, Trade?
We are planning on having a bulletin board where you can place a listing for items that you may want to Buy, Sell or Trade. Make a list of what you want, need or want to get rid of and post it on the Board. Include your cell phone number so people can call you while at the Meet.
Will we be able to give rides at the show?
The show location is going to be around a paved track. Depending on the amount of foot traffic in and around the track area you should be able to give someone a quick ride around the track. Just keep your speed down, which shouldn’t be a problem with the size of our cars. We are talking to the people at the Gilmore about possibly allowing cars to drive around on some roads around the property that are outside of the show area.
What about food at the Gilmore?
The Gilmore has a cute diner and a snack bar Café in the Museum. They are also planning on having a BBQ grill, called the Grillmore (Get it?) and a full bar open during show hours.
Are there rest rooms on the grounds?
There are restrooms in the Shell gas station near the Meet site. There are also rest rooms in the Museum and in the Campania Barn. We are planning on having Port-a-potties on site as well.
Is there Ice available at the Gilmore?
NO, there are a couple of convenience stores on the road to the Gilmore, get your ice there before you enter the Gilmore Campus.
The Gilmore Car Museum does NOTallow alcoholic beverage to be brought in by show participants. They do sell beer, wine and a full bar at their beer garden, but due to their liquor license requirements, NO outside alcoholic beverages are allowed.
Are you doing anything special for the kids?
We are planning on having a “Kid’s Corner” with activities for the kids, including art projects and folding Microcars. There is also a special “Kid’s Choice” trophy that will be awarded to their favorite car.
Are you awarding trophies?
There is going to be two categories of trophies awarded. One, “People’s Choice, which will be determined by ballots submitted by the general public. The second award will be “Exhibitor’s Choice”, which will be determined by ballots cast by the exhibitors. You will be given one Exhibitor’s ballot for every member of your party that will allow you to cast your ballot for your favorite car. In case of a tie, my vote will be the tie breaking vote. Sorry, it’s my meet and I make the rules. The trophies will be awarded at the Banquet in the evening.
How can I learn more about the Gilmore?
You can go to their website www.gilmorecarmuseum.org for additional information on what they have to offer. We encourage you to visit the Museum itself either before or after the Meet. They have the largest collection of Collector cars in North America.
Is there going to be a dash plaque for those who attend?
Instead of a dash plaque, we are planning on giving out a window sticker to every car that registers. Most of our cars don’t have any room on our dash for a plaque. The window sticker will show the world that you were one of the few cars that actually made it to the World Meet in 2021.
What is the Microcar 500?
It is an optional driving event that is happening before the World Meet. You will have the opportunity to visit five great car museums, over a period of five days and will cover slightly over 500 miles. It starts on Sunday, June 13th at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN with a private tour of the Lane Museum. Over the next four days, you will be driving your Micro or Mini cars to and touring the National Corvette Museum, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum and the Studebaker Museum and ending up at the Gilmore Car Museum on Thursday afternoon, June 18th. You do not have to drive the entire tour. You can join the tour at any one of the stops during the week. There is no charge for this tour, but you are responsible for all your own expenses including hotels, meals and museum admissions. Details and registration forms are provided elsewhere on this website. We are estimating that a 40 MPH (Miles Per Hour) pace will be used for driving between cities. We are planning on staying off of Interstate Highways as much as possible.
What happens if I break down while on the Microcar 500?
We will have a “24’ Rescue Trailer” following the cars on the tour. We will try and help get you going again, but if we are not successful after 15-30 minutes, your car will be loaded on the trailer and taken to the hotel designated for that evening. It will be your responsibility to repair your car so you can continue the tour the following day. We will NOT transport your car for the entire tour. You will have to make your own arrangements to get yourself and your car to the final destination. We strong suggest you bring any repair parts you may think you will need with you.
Preview Event? What is it?
We are going to have an event starting at 4:00pm at Bate's Alley in downtown Kalamazoo on Friday night. Downtown Kalamazoo is about 5 miles from the hotels. There will be live music and activities for the kids. We hope to put on a “mini car show” for the local residents, while giving you an opportunity to have dinner and explore the other many things Kalamazoo has to offer. There are a number of microbreweries in the area. More details on the event will be coming.
Is there anything planned for Sunday?
Not at this time. If your car club wants to organize a drive/tour that will be up to you and we encourage it. Let us know if you want to open it up to other cars, or if you want to plan something. We would love to include something.
Will there be alcohol served at the banquet?
No, we will not be having an open bar. We don’t want anyone to be drinking and driving.
Do you need volunteers to help out?
Yes, we anticipate and would appreciate having people volunteer to help us out. We will need some help at the registration desk, help with insuring that cars are parked safely around the grounds, taking tickets at the banquet and help cleaning up. If I want to sponsor an award for our car make can I do that?
Certainly. If your car club wants to sponsor an award, all we ask is that you come up with how you want to select the winner, the trophy, and let us know so we can include it in the awards banquet.
What is a Micro car and a Mini car?
We are not going to get hung up on definitions of Micro and Mini cars. We want to be as inclusive as possible and hope you bring your car.
Is the World Meet sponsored by the new Micro/Mini Car Club?
Actually, I began organizing this World Meet over a year and a half ago, before the Micro/Mini Car Club was starting to be organized. I have been working with the Micro/Mini Car Club in setting up the club and volunteered to be the Events Chairman of the new club.

I am flying in for the Meet. What are the closest airports to the Gilmore?
There is an airport in Kalamazoo, MI. For larger airports, you can fly into Grand Rapids (GRR) which is about 40 miles from the Gilmore. The two major international airports would be Detroit (DTW) which is about 125 miles away and Chicago’s O’Hare (ORD) and Chicago’s Midway (MDW) which are about 2-1/2 hours away.
